GrassRoots Leadership Workshop
GrassRoots Leadership is a set of principles that empower every individual to share the responsibility of achieving excellence. In this seminar, you will learn skills to maximize the performance of your team and others through focused interactions. Through discussion and interaction, participants will develop new insights and expand their knowledge in order to better apply what they gain through this workshop to real-life situations they encounter. This unique learning experience generates the transformation in thinking essential to achieve more of the desired results, quicker and with less stress and effort.
The seminar is based on the principles that Captain Mike Abrashoff detailed in his best-selling book, It’s Your Ship. By establishing a system that Mike called GrassRoots Leadership, he was able to turn the USS Benfold into one of the best performing ship in the entire fleet. By replacing the Navy’s traditional command-and-control model with the new focus on commitment and cohesion, Benfold began achieving success beyond his own expectations as well as those of his commanders.
Through discussion and interaction, participants will develop new insights and expand their knowledge in order to better apply what they gain through this workshop to real-life situations they encounter.
- Demonstrate the power of asking the right questions.
- Discuss how to gain buy-in without resistance.
- Describe how to inspire others to think and act like stakeholders.
- Set plans and give examples of how to lead people toward accomplishing objectives and using organizational resources effectively.

Day 3: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
